Snowscape 2
Oil on board 12x10"
Bridget Hunter 2013
Another painting done after a venture across the fields where the snow lay. As I live right on the coast it often snows without lying so I have to go to find it and as much as I admire the plein air snow painters I don't have their passionate spirit so walking, taking photos and just staring has to do me.

Bridget, you paint snow so beautifully with so many colours! I love both of these but the top one grabs ahold of me and I want to follow its path.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great comment Carole - thankyou for visiting and taking the time to add your thoughts.
DeleteNo easy task painting snow...so many shadows....great job!
ReplyDeleteI love painting all the nuances of the shadows but try to simplify them to avoid getting muddled. Thankyou.
DeleteWonderful paintings, if you can get such fresh looking results in the studio, why sit out in the cold!
ReplyDeleteI don't know about you Cathy - but painting outside, as I used to do frequently, led to works I was never happy with. Too much information I think. I now like to sketch outside which seems to help me compose the painting before making a painting .
ReplyDeleteGorgeous paintings! Snow is very hard to paint and you did an amazing job capturing its essence.
ReplyDeleteStunning snow scenes, Bridget! I agree with Marcia -- snow is difficult to depict, and yet you have captured the lush nuances of what snow can be -- and I should know as we just dug out of the blizzard of 2013!
