November sketch.

November Trees
Bridget Hunter 2011

The sun is shining, the first light frosts are here and the Autumn colours are glorious. So packed my sketching kit, met Dorothy ( and went to Rozelle pond. This is an attempt to capture a small part of the scene in watercolour.

  1. Your sketch reminds me of an Emily Carr (Canadian Artist) painting! Lovely movement in this.

  2. Thankyou. After reading your comment I looked at Emily Carr's work etc online. She was an amazing woman and I'd like to read more about her life and also some of her writings. Thankyou for introducing her to me.

  3. where's the other them both!

  4. You are welcome. I was in the Victoria and the Vancouver Art Galleries this past weekend. The shows were very different but both reminded me of how brave she was in trying new painting styles at a time when women didn't do such a thing!

  5. Oooooh! Fabulous painting. Reminds me of a watercolorist I admire very much.

You've got that watercolor gene! Looking forward to more.

  6. Your work is really nice. I noticed you work with gouache. I recently learned what that is and worked on some faces with it.

I love your shoe paintings...they are really fashionable!

  7. Don't know about a watercolour gene Malinda, But thankyou anyway :>))

And gouache is tricky I find - though other folk seem to use it beautifully Lisa. Its a matter of having a go isn't it and not worrying too much - which both you and I probably do.:>((

  8. Met Brian and Kate for first time in years and Kate said you were painting. And what results. I am blown away by your work. And great web site -in my inexpert opinion!

    Great stuff!
    Elaine (McNicoll)

  9. Hi Elaine - what a surprise! Thakyou very much for the comment. I can't seem to reply to you directly but will get in touch with Kate to see if she has your email.
