Oil on board 20x20"
Bridget Hunter 2012
After much adding and scraping away at last a finished painting. Promised myself that I will not touch it again, I will not, I will not.
The first layin and then a lot of thinking and not knowing what to do next. I still think maybe I've overdone the final work wishing I could have left the looseness of this first working. Next time maybe!
Lovely colours, Bridget, well done - do not touch!
ReplyDeleteThankyou Margaret - for looking and commenting
DeleteI enjoy the way light plays with form and shape in your work.
ReplyDeleteAs far as knowing when to stop, some artists throughout history, never really stopped. They just took their paints, brushes and assorted materials on over to their buyers home and kept touching up their paintings.
I suppose it also was a way to keep in touch and to socialize.
Micros
That's really interesting Micros - so it really was always the same story. I can't imagine people doing that now though I always feel like taking paintings off kind friend's (who've purchased a work) walls and redoing them.Thankyou for encouraging comment.
DeleteVery different outcomes from the first photo to the last photo...both have their own life and light! Before photos of earlier attempts we could only be sad over vague memories. Beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteThankyou. Maube it's the simplicity of the first, the directness that appeals.
