Here a sheep, there a sheep.

Arran Hill Farm
Oil on canvas  12 x 10"
Bridget Hunter 2012

Where I live, wherever I look, there are sheep, usually the Blackfaced Hill Sheep, hardy wee souls. It's the same when I visit the islands off the West Coast to sketch and paint.
They are such a part of the landscape that you almost forget their presence. And it's a bit of a dilemma as to whether to include them in a landscape painting. But in this oil I decided to include a few to add to the character of the farm.

  1. I was so fascinated by the combining of purples with cremes that I hardly noticed the 'wee' ones... beautiful!

    1. Thankyou for visiting. I'm always struck by the pinks, purples and oranges in the bracken and grasses.

  2. Love the rich plums used for the distant hills. Also, do like the gate opening in the foreground !

    1. If I had one favourite colour it would be that aubergine type colour. It's even in my furnishings LOL

  3. Bridget, I love that you added the sheep! Your colour palette is rich and can I say it "farmy" in a very good way! xo
